Call for PLoS postcards - postdocs and students are encouraged to submit a PLoS postcard about their favorite 3Dsig presentation. For guidance on this 800-1000 word publication (see here for more). SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED.  This year's 3Dsig will take place in Boston on July 9-10, the 2 days preceding ISMB 2010. The 3Dsig meeting will be held at the John B. Hynes Memorial Convention Center (900 Boylston Street, Boston, MA, USA). We are happy to announce the fourth 3Dsig meeting. Two full days with a balance of invited talks, short oral presentations, two laptop/poster-sessions, and critical, topic-focused discussions. A truly unique event bringing together in one place the structural computational biology community. Starting this year, 3DSIG is happy to announce the “Warren DeLano Structural Bioinformatics and Computational Biophysics Award” in honour of Warren DeLano and the contributions he made to our community. The award sum of $1000 will be given each year for the best presentation on behalf of the DeLano foundation.

Relevant topics include: Structure representation, structure prediction, structural genomics. Structural databases and 3D data mining. Structure-based function prediction. Evolution studied through structure. Docking, analysis, prediction & simulation of biomolecular interactions (Protein-protein, protein-ligand, and protein-RNA/DNA). Prediction and analysis of domains. Membrane protein structure prediction and analysis. The role of geometry and energetics in protein and RNA structure and function. Analysis and simulation of dynamics aspects of biomolecular function (folding, allosteric effects, etc). Structure-based drug design and pharmacophore analysis. 

3Dsig 2010 is continuing the tradition established through the successful 3Dsig 2009 (Stockholm, Sweden), 3Dsig 2008 (Toronto, Canada), 3Dsig 2007 (Vienna, Austria) 3Dsig 2006 (Fortaleza, Brasil) and 3Dsig 2004 (Glasgow, United Kingdom). To better appreciate the wealth of leading topics and presenters, please explore the programs and proceedings from past meetings. The program will be built around talks from accepted abstracts and invited speakers. The scientific committee is looking for fresh, effective voices with new, high impact ideas. 

Accepted abstracts will fall into two categories: oral presentation and laptop/poster presentation. All participants with accepted abstracts have the choice of presenting their work as either a regular poster, a laptop presentation, or a combination thereof - even those selected for oral presentation. Those choosing to use a laptop to substitute or augment their poster presentation will have a stand or table and electric socket for a personal laptop (presenters must bring their own laptops). The aim of the poster/laptop session is to facilitate interactions between the presenter and the viewers. 
Key Dates: 
 March 9, 2010 - Registration opens for 3Dsig and ISMB/ECCB. April 9, 2010 - Deadline for travel fellowship application for the main ISMB/ECCB meeting. May 13, 2010 - Deadline for submitting an abstract to 3Dsig to be considered for oral presentation. May 20, 2010 - Late 3Dsig abstract submission deadline. Late submissions will not be considered for oral presentation. Late submission deadline for ISMB poster. Remember that submission of an ISMB poster is a requirement for the travel fellowship application. May 28, 2010 - Early registration deadline to the main ISMB conference. Note: you may register only for 3Dsig. Tentative date for the announcement of the abstracts selected for oral presentation and laptop/poster session (full program and online abstracts will be posted soon afterwards). July 9-10, 2010 - 3Dsig 2010 
 We encourage all to apply for the ISMB travel fellowship. The deadline is April 9, 2010 and is available to those who submitted a poster to ISMB main even (the same poster can also be presented at 3Dsig).
