Fellowships
We encourage students and postdocs to enjoy the significant number of travel fellowships available through the ISMB conference that immediately follows 3DSIG. Students/postdocs applying to this fellowship should attend the ISMB conference as poster or oral-presentation presenters. The abstract submitted to ISMB can be identical to the one submitted to 3Dsig.
We encourage all to apply for the ISMB travel fellowship. The deadline is not yet available.
In 2008 and 2009, the two highest scoring abstracts selected for oral presentation each received a student fellowship (~$450) sponsored by The Molecular Graphics Modelling Society.
In 2010 we established the Warren DeLano Award for Structural Bioinformatics and Computational Biophysics in association with the with the DeLano foundation in memory of Warren DeLano, the creator of PyMol and an advocate of free software in academia.
In 2011 continued to offer the Warren DeLano prize for best presentation.
In 2012 we will continue with the tradition of presenting prizes for the top posters.
Prizes are awarded based on scientific merit and are selected by the scientific committee members. The objective of the prizes is to promote the participation of students in 3DSIG. As such the prizes are offered to students, if the presenting author of a winning oral or poster presentation is a PI or a postdoc, the fellowship will go the student who contributed the most to the study. The award will be presented on stage during the closing remarks of the 3DSIG meeting.
