I am currently doing a computational analysis of a subset of protein kinases over-expressed in «Triple-negative» breast cancer. This subtype of breast cancer does not express the genes for estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) or Her2/neu. It has been shown in two previous studies, that there are 26 protein kinases whose overexpression is detected in «Triple-negative» breast cancer and whose role is critical for the growth of « Triple-negative» cancerous cells [Speers et al., 2010] [Bianchini et al., 2010]. The objective of my project is to characterize the binding sites of each of these protein kinases in order to detect subsets of the latter for which it may be possible to develop multi-functional inhibitors.
